A celebratory meal feels even more glamorous when the table setting is just perfect! In Japanese cuisine, presenting the food in beautiful, traditional style gives a sense of occasion and just a little formality. Better get that special outfit ready...
This gorgeous multi-tiered bento box is called a 'jyubako' and is typically used for serving a variety of Japanese dishes at a celebratory meal and on special occasions. In particular this kind of container is used for 'osechi-ryori' at New Year.
This highly decorative bento box has three separate tiers and a lid. The gold, black and dark red design features traditional temari balls, a fan and delicate flowers both on the lid and all around the sides of the square layers.
Inside, the box is vermillion red, similar to traditional Japanese lacquerware.
The box is very flexible for food presentation; use one, two to three trays separately or wow your guests by revealing each level at the table. Use it to serve your traditional Japanese meal or it's also great for small hors d'oeuvres and party food.
I have even seen this kind of box used for fancy desserts in Japanese restaurants!
Made from ABS resin, it is very sturdy and easy to wash up (although please take care not to scratch or scour the gold design).
The stacked box measures: 19.5cm wide x 19.5cm deep x 16.5cm high.
Individually boxed.
Made in Japan.
Not recommended for dishwasher.
