The vision of mists rising on a cool spring morning will alleviate the intense heat of summer. Can you think back to the freshness of that day?
Wind chimes have become a much loved summer accessory in Japan. As well as being found at shrines and temples, they are hung in people's homes to provide a soothing and cooling sound in the hottest part of the year.
This clear glass wind chime, or furin in Japanese, has a swirl of coloured glass in turquoise blue, white and dark pink. Each wind chime is hand crafted including the crystal glass clapper, or zetsu, inside the bell.
Below the bell, attached to the zetsu, hangs the tanzaku tab. This decorative tab is made from high quality paper which is blank on one side with the company name and logo printed on the other. The tab is not removable but you could write a message on the blank side if you wished.
This Japanese wind chime comes in a pretty pale grey box making it ideal for gifting.
Based in the Aomori region of Japan, Tsugaru Vidro specialises in charming and colourful glassware, created by artisans, that reflects the seasons and natural world.
The glass bell measures about 6.5cm (about 2½") high by 6.3cm (2½") in diameter.
The paper tanzaku tab that hangs below the wind chime measures 18cm (just over 7") by 4.5cm (1¾").
Please take care when hanging the wind chime and make sure it is properly secured.
