Beautiful presentation is very important in Japanese cuisine and can make your dining experience all the more enjoyable.  It's also fun to get the atmosphere of old-time Japan at home!

This small lightweight tray is made from natural wood with a glossy black lacquered coating and edges highlighted in muted red.  It features a simple fish design in gold which finishes off its traditional and decorative style.

The tray measures just under 26cm (about 10¼") x 18cm (about 7") with a low rim of about 1cm (½").  It makes a pretty and refined way to serve drinks and small snacks or could even be used as a platter for presenting sushi.

This tray is produced in the Kawada region of Sabae City as part of the Echizen Lacquerware Cooperative, an organisation working to keep the traditional art of Japanese lacquerware alive as well as promoting more modern and practical production techniques.

Please note that this is a small tray that is not suitable for heavy usage.
