Black

Cool monochrome is sophisticated and doesn't necessarily mean dull or harsh.  Black and white is classic of course and has a pleasing simplicity that, as well as standing up on its own, fits well alongside other colour palettes.  Black with muted colours can give a grown up more serious look; adult and touching on masculine.
