Squid or calamari rings are so delicious with the aroma and flavour of garlic! This little utensil will help you get in the mood... Hungry yet?
This traditional-style Japanese grater is known as 'oroshigane' or 'oroshiki'. It's made from sturdy stainless steel with sharp metal stud on the grating surface and a flattened end to hold.
Using this oroshigata, you can achieve a nice paste-like consistency which is ideal for mixing into dips, using in cooking or to serve as a condiment. There are no perforations through the plate so the grated paste is scraped from the surface.
It is commonly used to finely grate fresh wasabi root, root ginger, daikon and other vegetables used in Japanese cuisine. It's also useful for making garlic paste.
This cute design is called 'ika' as it has been made in the shape of a squid.
Made in Japan.
Please take care as the grater is sharp!
